Marc Weiser is co-founder of the audio-visual duo Rechenzentrum, which he continues as solo artist since the split in 2008. The project is internationally considered as figurehead of Berlin’s Electronica scene, and has been working at the borderline between club culture and art since more than ten years.
Rechenzentrum played over 500 concerts worldwide, among performances at most of the relevant festivals (Mutek/Canada, Sonar/Spain, club transmediale/Germany, Ars Electronica and Donaufestival/Austria etc.). The Goethe-Institute invited Rechenzentrum for various tours through North and South America, Asia, Russia, Siberia and South East Europe including lectures and workshops. Several influential albums (especially John Peel Session/kitty-yo 2001, Director’s Cut/Mille Plateaux 2003 or Silence/Weiser:Music 2007) saved Rechenzentrum a long-ranging position at the spearhead of Berlin’s electronic avant-garde.

Since conversing Rechenzentrum into a solo project Marc Weiser more and more replaced extensive touring by composition projects. In December 2009 his sound art radio play “Ecstatic Confessions” (commissioned by Deutschlandradio) was broadcasted. In June 2010 he realised an additive sound adaptation of the soundtrack of Dziga Vertov’s classic Entuziazm in the context of the philosophic congress “The idea of communism” at Volksbühne Berlin. Furthermore commissioned works and co-operations with established New Music-ensembles as well as his participation in the internationally active ensemble Zeitkratzer (electronics, guitar, voice) generate a close contact with the contemporary art music scene. Characteristic of Weiser’s work is his intuitive approach to electronic devices, which he harnesses for his particular intentions and creatively employs in different ways.
